Jeanne Russo and Don Triebel’s fourth grade class recently welcomed Scotty Nygard, the father of student Ameliah, to teach students and teachers about powersport safety.
Nygard emphasized how important it is to wear the proper safety gear when using recreational vehicles such as ATVs, jet skis and motor bikes. Fourth graders tried on gear such as gloves, helmets and safety goggles, and the safety lesson fit in nicely with the Lakeview ROCKS program, which reinforces the importance of being respectful, organized, cooperative, kind and safe.
“Much of our curriculum focuses on safety and making good decisions,” Lakeview fourth grade teacher Don Triebel said. “With all of the ATV accidents in the news and the fact that many of our students live near and spend time on the lake, we appreciate Mr. Nygard taking the time out of his day to reinforce the importance of powersport safety to our class.”
