Lakeview Multicultural Night

Lakeview Elementary School recently hosted its highly anticipated second annual Multicultural Night, a vibrant celebration of the diverse cultures that make its school community unique. The evening brought together Lakeview families, staff and local partners, including the Mahopac High School German Club, Model UN Club and the Mahopac Public Library, for a cultural experience.

Attendees enjoyed cultural displays in the auditorium featuring artifacts, clothing and games. Four Lakeview staff members also engaged students and families in reading sessions in the Lakeview library.

The night was filled with live dance performances, including a traditional Filipino Tinikling dance performed by a Lakeview family. Families could also participate in a photo booth activity and a flag coloring station in the cafeteria, supported by the Mahopac High School’s Model UN Club. Additionally, two Lakeview students led an origami workshop with the help of English as a new language student volunteers from Mahopac High School.

More than 250 attendees came together to celebrate and learn about the various cultures that shape the Mahopac school community.

“Lakeview’s Multicultural Night was a beautiful celebration of unity, diversity and pride in our community,” Principal Elizabeth Blessing said. “The overwhelming support from our families, staff and local partners made this event truly special. Together we created a night that reflected the heart of Lakeview where cultures are celebrated and voices are uplifted.”

The festivities continued the following day with in-school assemblies for all students, featuring a performance by the Zuzu African Acrobats, sponsored by the Lakeview PTO. A big thank you to the Lakeview Site-Based Team, staff, families and everyone who contributed to making this event such a memorable celebration of unity and culture.
